Import from the Mac app

If you've been using BGP Mission Control for Mac, you can pull its content into the Chrome extension in one click. It's a one-time, additive import: nothing is removed, and running it again never duplicates.

How to use

  1. Open the Mac app and leave it running.
  2. In the extension, open Settings → Data → Import from desktop app.
  3. Wait for the summary. It lists what was imported, for example "3 new projects (+2 merged into ones you already had) · 5 tasks · 12 bookmarks · 4 dates".

What comes across

  • Projects (Super Task Bar): a project with the same name on both sides merges its tasks instead of being duplicated.
  • Tasks, notes, bookmarks (including any URL shortcuts, which become bookmarks), Important Dates, countdowns, habits and their daily check-ins.
  • Your belief responses, so your Belief Genome includes what you answered on the Mac.

Not included, on purpose: the Mac app's layout, launchers for Mac apps and files (the extension can't launch those), and its API keys.

Good to know

  • Something you deleted in the extension is never brought back by the import.
  • If the summary says dates, countdowns or habits were skipped, quit and reopen the Mac app once (older builds didn't share them), then import again.
  • After the import, keep using whichever you like. The Mac app isn't changed by importing. To keep several browsers in step, use sync.

Troubleshooting

"Could not reach BGP Mission Control (desktop)."

  • The Mac app isn't running. Open it, wait a few seconds, try again.

"…older version without the export endpoint."

  • Update the Mac app, then try again.
