Dashboard & widgets

My new tab doesn't show the dashboard.

• Another extension may control the new tab page. Turn it off. Check you're in the Chrome profile where BGP is installed (your avatar, top-right).

I updated the extension and things look old or broken.

• Close the tab and open a fresh new tab. Already-open tabs keep the old version.

A widget is missing or the page looks empty.

• Settings → Select Dashboard Widgets. Some widgets start off. After a reset, sample content returns on the next new tab.

An amber "AI isn't connected" banner keeps appearing.

• Connect an engine (free in two minutes): Connect AI. The banner goes away the moment one is connected.

Your Day Ahead uses the wrong AI, or won't build.

• It follows Settings → AI Engine. Check the status card there, then click ↻ on the brief.

Sync & data

My two computers don't match.

• Quick sync needs both browsers signed into the same browser account. Full private sync needs the same passphrase on both, and a Sync now on each once. Then click the sync dot. See Sync across your devices.

Did sync or restore delete something?

• No. Both merge and never delete. A deleted item stays deleted everywhere.

Sample content showed up on my second device.

• It shouldn't: samples don't sync, and a device joining your data drops its own samples. If you edited a sample, it became real data and syncs on purpose.

Import from the Mac app fails.

• The Mac app must be running. If it says "older version," update it. See Import from the Mac app.

I forgot a passphrase or my Important Accounts PIN.

• There's no recovery, by design. Your local data is untouched. Start that feature over.

Google & Microsoft

"Google hasn't verified this app."

• Google's standard notice while our verification is in review. Advanced → Go to BGP.

Calendar or Inbox is blank.

• Confirm you approved access and used the right account. If you see a permission error, disconnect and reconnect in Settings → Connected Accounts.

BGP DNA Anywhere

No strip on a site I added / "BGP was updated — reload this page".

FAQ

Do I need an account? No. None of the three products has one.

Where is my data? In your browser (extensions) or your user folder (Mac app). There's no BGP server holding it. Sync and backup use your own Google Drive, encrypted.

Is it free? Yes. Cloud AI use is billed to your own provider key or free tier.

Why are there two extensions? The dashboard is the full experience on your new tab. Anywhere is a light overlay for probes while you browse, with no new tab and no AI key. Use either or both, and merge their genomes with a file.

Does the Mac app sync with the extension? Not automatically. Use Import from the Mac app to bring its data into the extension. Use sync to keep your browsers in step.

How do I start over? Settings → Data → Reset all settings + widget data (back up first). Removing an extension also clears its data.
